May: The Season of The Bull.

As we approach the month of May we are in the midst of the season of Taurus which began on April 19 and transitions to Gemini on May 20. Taurus is the 2nd sign of the zodiac after fiery Aries. Aries energy, being the first sign of the zodiac, is all about initiating, also because it is a cardinal sign (all cardinal signs in the zodiac are "initiators") Perhaps during Aries season you enthusiastically started projects or "planted seeds" both literally and metaphorically. Now enter Taurus season: The season of "The Bull." Your seeds may have just started to sprout and now it's time to slow down and take note. What do these sprouts need? What's your game plan to keep them healthy and to continue growing into big fruit bearing plants? Taurus is a fixed sign. All fixed signs in the zodiac occur in the middle of the season, are considered as stabilizers, and are seen as the most reliable and persistent (and/or stubborn). It is a season to learn patience, commitment, and resilience. It's a time to practice creating a plan and sticking to it. Luckily, Emerald is the official birthstone of May, and it is here to help you with all these things, as it is the stone of wisdom, growth, commitment and infinite patience. It is believed to help give the strength to overcome perceived misfortunes and hardships in life. It helps you to become persistent, patient and resilient. Being a stone that is affiliated with the planet Venus, just like the sign Taurus itself, it also enhances the ability to enjoy life to the fullest, to enjoy and indulge in all the sensory pleasures of life. In May, it is progressively getting warmer, so we start to FEEL the sun on our skin, we begin to SMELL the blossoms proceeding the showers of April, we begin to SEE brighter colours, we even start busting out the more colourful palettes in our wardrobes (Think those bright pastels and Gapor day neons.) Our TASTE buds start to crave fresh fruits, leafy greens, vegetables after a winter of warm cooked or preserved comfort foods. You begin to HEAR more birds, and music on patios or at the lake. It's the time that our senses start to reawaken and we want to indulge in simple pleasures after being cozied up inside. Taurus is affiliated with the element "Earth." Making it very grounded and practical, and once again, perhaps a little stubborn too, but Emerald can help as it is also meant to help broaden one's vision, and help bring understanding within a group of people and stimulate cooperation.

Flowers for Taurus are: Daisy and Lily of the Valley. Daisy being the official flower for April, and then Lily of the Valley for May.

Some alternative stones for May are: Rose Quartz, Agate, Aventurine, Garnet, Amber, and Sapphire.

Essential oils for Taurus are: Eucalyptus, Lemon, Patchouli, Rosemary, Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang.

Local plants that begin to emerge: Nettles, Fiddleheads, Morels, Skunk Cabbage, Spruce tips, Horsetail

Margot Van Der Staay of @Staay.art has created a delicately detailed image depicting the sign of Taurus. A strong, calm and grounded bull, watches over a field of daisies and lilies of the valley, the flowers of April and May respectively. Behind it, if you look carefully, you can spot the Taurus constellation shining slightly brighter than the rest of the stars in the night sky. Below, an emerald and diamond balance inside the symbol for the element Earth.

This month we are happy to have a small batch of 15 cards and 2 prints made!
